About Jigawa State University of Medical and Allied Health Sciences
Jigawa State University of Medical and Allied Health Sciences, Majia (JSUMAHS) is a state-owned specialised university located in Majia, Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State, Nigeria. The institution evolved from Khadija University, Majia, a private university established in 2021, before being acquired by the Jigawa State Government and converted into a public medical and allied health sciences university in 2026. The university was formally recognised by the National Universities Commission (NUC) as Nigeria’s 70th state-owned university in July 2026.
JSUMAHS focuses on healthcare education, with programmes including Nursing Science, Medical Laboratory Science and Physiotherapy, while additional health-related programmes are being developed. Its teaching model combines classroom instruction with practical, laboratory and clinical training, alongside research and technology. For prospective students, JSUMAHS provides a specialised pathway into healthcare professions within a developing public university environment.
