Editorial Policy

Editorial Policy

This policy explains how Varsity.ng researches, writes, and maintains the content on our platform.

Our editorial mission

To give Nigerian students and families clear, accurate, and up-to-date information for undergraduate admission decisions — free from bias toward any single institution, agent, or paid placement.

How we source information

We treat each university’s official website as the primary source for admission requirements, cut-off marks, and course listings. Because newly NUC-approved courses and updated requirements aren’t always reflected promptly on official sites, we cross-check against:

  • JAMB brochures and official JAMB communications
  • NUC bulletins and approvals
  • myschool.ng and other established education-data sources
  • Recent press coverage and official institutional announcements

Where sources conflict or a detail is unverified, we aim to flag it rather than present it as settled fact.

Independence from advertising

Advertising and sponsorships (see Advertise With Us) never influence our cut-off mark data, course listings, or university rankings. Sponsored content is always clearly labeled as such and is held to the same accuracy standard as our regular content.

Corrections

We update pages when we identify or are notified of outdated or incorrect information. See our Fact-Checking Policy for how to report an error and how corrections are handled.

Review cycle

University and course data is reviewed periodically ahead of each admission cycle, and updated on an ongoing basis as new information becomes available.
