The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has introduced a new method for WASSCE for School Candidates 2026 to access their Result Checker PIN.
Unlike previous years, candidates will no longer receive the traditional WAEC smart card that contained the result checker PIN. Instead, WAEC has provided an official online portal where candidates can retrieve their PIN using their examination details.
If you sat for the 2026 WASSCE for School Candidates, here’s everything you need to know about getting your WAEC Result Checker PIN for free.
WAEC Result Checker PIN 2026 at a Glance
- WAEC has replaced the traditional Result Checker Smart Card.

- The service is free for eligible WASSCE 2026 school candidates.
- Candidates will need their examination details.
- The PIN should be kept safe until WAEC releases the results.
What Changed in the WAEC Result Checker Process?
For many years, WAEC issued a Result Checker Smart Card that contained the PIN and Serial Number required to check examination results.
Starting from the 2026 WASSCE for School Candidates, this system has changed.
As part of WAEC’s transition to biometric attendance, the examination body has discontinued the smart card for school candidates. Instead, candidates will obtain their Result Checker PIN through the official online PIN retrieval portal.
This means candidates no longer need to wait for a physical card before checking their results.
Why Did WAEC Remove the Smart Card?
WAEC explained that the change is part of its move from electronic attendance to biometric verification during examinations.
Since the smart card is no longer needed for attendance, it will also no longer be used to distribute Result Checker PINs.
Instead, candidates can conveniently retrieve their PIN online using their examination information.
How to Get the WAEC Result Checker PIN
Eligible candidates can access their PIN through the official WAEC Result Checker PIN portal.
To retrieve your PIN:
- Visit the official WAEC Result Checker PIN portal.
- Enter the required examination details.
- Follow the instructions displayed on the page.
- Retrieve your Result Checker PIN.
- Save the PIN in a secure place for future use.
The exact information requested may vary, so candidates should carefully complete every field displayed on the portal.
What Information Will You Need?
WAEC requires candidates to provide their examination details before the PIN can be generated.
These details will be requested directly on the official portal. Ensure you enter the correct information to avoid delays.
Keep Your PIN Safe
After successfully retrieving your Result Checker PIN, store it safely.
You will need the PIN when WAEC releases the 2026 WASSCE results.
Losing the PIN may make it difficult to access your examination results quickly.
Important Information for Schools
Schools should inform their candidates that:
- The traditional WAEC Result Checker Smart Card is no longer available.
- Candidates must retrieve their PIN online.
- The PIN should be kept safely until results are released.

This helps candidates understand the new process before results are announced.
